CHRISTIE’S FRIEZE WEEK AUCTIONS ACHIEVE

London – Christie’s Frieze Week achieved a total of £128,234,125 / $157,974,597 / €148,191,137 across four auctions. The week was launched by a dedicated auction of the remarkable private collection of Jeremy Lancaster on 1 October 2019. The exceptional Matthys-Colle Collection opened the Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Auction on 4 October 2019 with further works sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Auction on 5 October. All works from the Matthys-Colle Collection were sold, achieving a total of £5,553,750 to date. Selected Works from the UniCredit Group offered across the Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening and Day Auctions, as well as Thinking Italian were 100% sold by lot with a running total of £16,925,875, ahead of further works being offered in 2019 and 2020. The proceeds will primarily be used to support UniCredit’s Social Impact Banking and other relevant initiatives including the support of young artists. The international collecting community gathered at Christie’s during Frieze Week with registered bidders from 63 countries across 6 continents and over 20,000 visitors to our pre-sale exhibitions in King Street. A spirited response was seen to post-war works of exceptional provenance together with the rising stars of contemporary art. Twelve artist records were set in Christie’s saleroom with two further records in the medium.
