Mostra We, humanimals

“We Humanimals.”: at nhow Milan hotel from March 25 to October 4, 2025

The nhow Hotel Milano on Via Tortona 35 successfully launched “WE HUMANIMALS.”, an exhibition curated by Matteo Pacini (curator, art critic, and author) and Laura Tartarelli, gallerist from Forte dei Marmi. This boundary-pushing project explores the fusion of human and animal through works spanning figurative to digital, mythological to futuristic.
Nine international artists have transformed the nhow’s halls into a labyrinth of hybrid creatures, where human and animal blur in a limitless dialogue. Merging painting, sculpture, photography, and digital art, the exhibition invites reflection on a post-anthropocentric era – where identity becomes fluid and nature reclaims its primordial space.

“WE HUMANIMALS.”: THE FEATURED ARTISTS

“WE HUMANIMALS,: a Dazzling Contemporary Bestiary” is a symbolic, immersive journey into the animal kingdom. Across seven exhibition spaces, the iconic Via Tortona 35 hotel becomes an artistic ecosystem where nine visionary artists redefine the boundaries between humans and animals.
Inspired by the work of Sandro Gorra, Milan’s celebrated artist and advertiser, the exhibition showcases sculpture, painting, photography, and textile art. Gorra – known for his iconic caricatures -uses animal imagery as metaphors for human contradictions, blending irony and brilliance. His monumental giraffe, positioned in the nhow Milano’s entrance tunnel, symbolically ushers visitors into a celebration of wildlife’s beauty and fragility.

«Gorra’s vision was playful yet prophetic,” notes Pacini“Today, these artists carry his torch, turning the hotel into a 21st-century bestiary».

EXHIBITION PATH: A SENSORY JOURNEY

From the lobby to three floors of curated spaces, the exhibition immerses visitors in urgent themes: humanity’s bond with nature, sustainability, and respect for our planet’s creatures. Art becomes a powerful medium for storytelling, emotion, and ethical discourse – without sacrificing aesthetic impact.

Lobby & Entrance Hall

Sandro Gorra: The exhibition opens with one of his monumental giraffes – symbol of elegance and originality – greeting visitors in the entrance tunnel. Gorra’s signature irony invites fresh perspectives on the animal world’s symbolic depth.

Martin Lucchini:
His lobby-displayed String Art fuses human individuality with animal nature. Intricate colored cotton threads form anthropomorphic and animal figures that dissolve and recompose, balancing chaos and order. The dreamlike atmosphere reflects humanity’s interconnection with nature, suggesting fluid boundaries between the two.

Gianluca Migliorino:
Also in the hall, Migliorino presents a second giraffe – this time slumped in melancholy. The piece critiques human overexploitation of nature. Pure white and gold gloss highlight fauna’s innocence and ecological value. A symbolic swing held in the animal’s mouth evokes carefree play, while a breaking dry branch alludes to deforestation and poaching’s devastating effects.

First Floor

Valerio De Cristofaro:
A burst of color defines his mythological creatures, blending pop art and illustration. Bold, experimental forms convey positivity, transformation, and rebirth. Each animal becomes an iconic figure straddling reality and imagination.

Tiziano Colombo:
His enigmatic beings inhabit a space between past and future. Colombo crafts an imaginary ecosystem where animal-like figures mirror the human condition. Their gazes explore environmental connection, belonging, and isolation in an increasingly alienating world.

Second Floor

Sabrina Ferrari:
Her Urban Jungle series features bronze sculptures embodying strength, elegance, and tension between modernity and tradition. Each piece honors wildlife, balancing animal power with the vulnerability of threatened species. Meticulous details nod to classical sculptural mastery.

Alberto Tornago:
This emerging artist merges urban culture with traditional sculpture. A standout bronze crocodile symbolizes resilience and mystery. Tornago’s evolution from street art to sculpture reflects stylistic growth, with animals serving as metaphors for adaptation and survival.

Third Floor

Alex Belli:
His Africa series draws on fashion photography, portraying Maasai tribespeople in traditional attire. Acrylic interventions create visual disruptions, contrasting tradition and modernity while celebrating Africa’s cultural roots and bond with nature.

Federico Tolardo:
The journey concludes with Tolardo’s wistful wood-and-resine figures, dubbed “ciucero” (a coined term for the seemingly insignificant). Upcycled materials become anthropo-zoomorphic toys and robots, evoking melancholy, memory, and hope.

Don’t miss this fusion of art, nature, and reflection in a unique setting.
