A total of 37.000 spectators enjoyed the best padel in the world at Roland-Garros throughout the week, almost 50% more than at the 2022 edition of the Greenweez Paris Major Premier Padel, highlighting the growing passion for padel among French fans. Both on the day of the semifinals and during the final, more than 8.000 people filled the stands of the impressive Court Philipp Chatrier to watch the best padel players on the planet.
In the court, Arturo Coello-Agustín Tapia and Ariana Sánchez-Paula Josemaría were crowned champions of the Greenweez Paris Major 2023. This was, at last, the first Premier Padel title for the number 1 female pairing, Sánchez-Josemaría, after being finalists in Rome and Madrid. The third time was the charm for Ari and Paula, and what better place to do it than Roland-Garros, where they enter the court determined not to miss any more opportunities. Ari and Paula set the pace from the start against Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay to win the first set convincingly (6-2). In the second they also started with a comfortable advantage, and after 5 match balls, they were crowned champions of Premier Padel in Paris (6-2, 6-4).
Much closer was the first set of the men’s final between Tapia-Coello and Chingotto-Navarro, which was decided in the tie-break: Arturo and Agustin took it comfortably (7-2) and this catapulted them to leave their rivals with no options in the second set: 6-1 for the Spanish-Argentine couple, which wins its fourth Premier Padel title in a row and continues to dominate with an iron fist this 2023 season. From this Monday, Arturo Coello will climb to the first position of the FIP world ranking.
