The official trophy of the Ooredoo Qatar Major Premier Padel 2023 was officially unveiled today at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha. Top seeds number 1, 2, 3 and 5 attended the presentation and showed their padel skills in a unique setting, with breathtaking views of the Doha Corniche.
On a sporting level, the first round of the opening tournament of the season has been completed today in the spectacular Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex. Up to 24 matches where played between the 5 official courts, including the big win from Spanish pair Sánchez Piñeiro-García Rodrigo against the Argentines Belluati-Lamperti (6-2, 7-6). The Qatar Major also saw the awaited Premier Padel debut of legendary Juan Martín Díaz, who fell along his partner Silingo against Ruiz-Bergamini (3-6, 6-2, 6-3), finalists of the Milano P1 last December.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, will see the debut of the 8 best pairings of the tour, formed by Galán-Lebrón (1), Stupaczuk- Di Nenno (2), Navarro-Tello (3), Belasteguín-Sanyo Gutiérrez (4), Coello-Tapia (5), Chingotto-Garrido (6), ‘Momo’ González-Álex Ruiz (7) and Lima-Nieto (8). All of them will fight tomorrow for a place in the round of 16 of this Ooredoo Qatar Major 2023, which will distribute €525,000 in total prize money and 2,000 FIP ranking points to the winners.
