14th China-Italy Week of Science, Technology and Innovation

November 13–15, 2025 · Beijing and Hangzhou Theme: “Boosting Innovation, Building a Sustainable Future Together”

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and China, the 14th edition of the China-Italy Week of Science, Technology and Innovation reaffirms the two countries’ commitment to a strong, mutually beneficial partnership. Promoted by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the event is a key platform for international cooperation in science and innovation.

A bridge between research, innovation, and sustainability
The Week aims to strengthen ties between universities, research institutions, companies, and startups from both countries, fostering joint projects, academic exchanges, and strategic partnerships. It is held annually, alternating between Italy and China, and is part of the 2024–2027 Action Plan for the Enhancement of the Global Strategic Partnership, signed in July 2024.

Locations and coordination China-Italy Week 

  • The 2025 edition will take place in Beijing and Hangzhou from November 13 to 15.
  • Italian coordination: Città della Scienza and the National Research Council (CNR)
  • Chinese coordination: Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Zhongguancun Science Park, and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology

Rectors’ Forum and academic agreements
A key highlight will be the First Rectors’ Forum between CEAIE (China) and CRUI (Italy), as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024 during President Mattarella’s visit to China. The Forum will include the signing of a framework agreement and the presentation of around 20 academic cooperation agreements between Chinese and Italian universities.

Thematic sessions and scientific focus areas

The Week will feature thematic sessions with international experts addressing strategic topics such as:

  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • AI Ethics and Law
  • Life Sciences and Health Sciences
  • Marine and Polar Sciences
  • Cultural Heritage Protection and AI
  • Tropical Agriculture

One-to-One Meetings and networking
Special focus will be given to One-to-One Meetings, offering universities, research centers, innovation hubs, and startups a dedicated space to build new academic, scientific, and industrial partnerships.

A strategic event for global cooperation
The 14th China-Italy Week stands as a vital moment to support research, innovation, and sustainability, while showcasing the achievements and future potential of both countries’ innovation ecosystems.
