Our staff is always interested in sustainable mobility and when I had the opportunity to occupy myself with this interesting area, I decided to do it in great style, by contacting Mr. Roberto Toro, Communications Manager at Tesla Motors. A lot of people are wondering today who is Tesla. I was very lucky to know this company during my most recent trip to the USA. One night, strolling through Santa Monica, California, I came across a fantastic car dealership who exposed models I didn’t know about. I checked and the seller told me the story of Tesla, a young Californian company born from an intuition simple but very ingenious: creating beautiful cars, fast, and completely ecological, 0 exhaust emissions! This goal was reached in 2003, by Elon Musk, who has created, in my opinion, those who will become the coolest cars in the coming years! The founder is the Roadster, a fantastic sporty two seats car, but then the need to list a flagship model drove Tesla to create the “Model S”, a very attractive and sporty flagship 5-doors model: with its 416 HP, Tesla wins the competition!
LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
But let’s proceed step by step. I took an appointment for a drive test, on a Tuesday afternoon in a sunny Milan, there were 32 degrees. I found the Tesla showroom at 31, Cerva Street (via Cerva 31) in the heart of Milan. The atmosphere is modern, technological and there is a platform that highlights the green features of the car. On the walls there is a wide range of combinations to set up and customize your own car. The exterior colors are many and all very beautiful, alloy wheels, stylish and sporty but, forgive me for the deformation of professional Interior Designer, the choice for the interior is even more beautiful. The color combinations between leather, piping (the rounded edge that characterizes the profile of the seats), wood and technological materials are really different. You can customize the at your own choice, like a tailored suit! Roberto, after a brief chat, invited me to try the car. The Model S is parked in front of the showroom and it’s love at first sight between it and I. The line is sleek, elegant and sporty at the same time and it will be appreciated also by ladies, I’m sure! Roberto makes me seat on the driver’s side, the handles offer themselves to passengers (when the car is stationary or traveling they disappear!)getting out of the body of the car and I sit down on the wide seat (adjustable in all directions).
LOW ALTITUDE “FLYING”
Have you ever seen a child in an amusement park? That is, when the car is “on” (no noise is perceived as the car is electric) and the dashboard lit up, I think my expression has spoken for itself! Wow! A concentrate of technology never seen before on a car. The main control panel is essentially a mega iPad (double in size) from which you can control all functions of the car. The minor components of Mercedes origin, suggests the feeling that runs between the two houses. It starts. The silence is total. The performances are first class: it indulges you, pampers you, but if you crush the accelerator it brings out the muscles. On paved quiet street in Milan slips, assemblies are very valid and materials of good quality, you won’t hear creaking, the feeling of quality is perceptible from the beginning. Visibility is good and the overall dimensions absolutely manageable. When reverse gear is engaged a rear camera is on to keep an eye on what goes on behind. The car is equipped with every necessary accessories, for driving pleasure at 360 ° and you can see that the safety factor has been the focus of designers. The car is safe in any situation! The interiors have excellent ideas for discussion that may be exhibited in a museum of modern art. Beautiful door handles, just as beautiful as the interior door handles, they look like sculptures! The instrument panel is straightforward, simple, minimal, but if you look well – there is all you need. The gearbox is smooth with imperceptible gear changes, even in this case, ” the ladies ” will appreciate. I can see Tesla Model S in Milan’s most fashionable street, but nimble in traffic and the service of managers and families (the trunk is very large and well finished!). A wide – range electric car, 500 km, easy to recharge (you can also recharge from a standard 220V household outlet) and that surely will be talked about. Gentlemen, the future is here, and if we could be lucky enough to drive this kind of car, try to think how it could change the quality of life in our cities!
